NDE of Composites: Some Technological Challenges and Solutions in Indian Context

Sanjith G. Zacharia, K. Veerabrahmam, K. Srinivas, J. Lahiri

The present paper deals with development of two specific NDE systems in India for composite products: a portable ultrasonic C-scan system (called IndyScan) for on-site ultrasonic inspection of mildly curved structures and a non-destructive process-monitoring system for thermoset composite products, curing by condensation polymerization. Brief description and technical details of the above systems are presented, along with the problem statement and the conceptual approach followed in each case.
