Experience of Residual Stress Study in Welded Joints and Repair Seams after Repairing with Arc Overlaying Welding

The technique of speckle interferometry as a mechanical method of residual stress measurement is described. This technique is realized in the “LIMON-TV” device. The program LIMON-EXPRESS is developed and used for residual stress calculation; measurement results for different weld technologies are given. Comparative analysis of operating characteristics for spiral-seam and straight-lined-seam pipes of large diameters is presented. One of the characteristics used is residual stress level in the pipe main metal and in the weld joints including heat-affecting zones.
