New Technique of Antenna Arrays Implementation for Automated Ultrasonic Inspection of Austenitic Pipes Du300 Girth Welds

While ultrasonic inspection of girth welds with significant weld reinforcement, the indications at half skip could be hardly detected. Meanwhile signals with reflection at uneven inner and outer pipe surfaces could be detected. Such situation is distinctive for 300 mm diameter pipes with wall width 18 mm (Du300). SPC "ECHO+" has recently developed inspection technique for this object. It is based on acquisitions of signals by antenna array with double-scan mode and flaw image reconstruction with C-SAFT algorithm. Multiple reflections at pipe uneven surfaces are taken into account. The AUGUR 6 system implements this technique.
