About One Approach to Technical Diagnostics of the Nuclear Power Plant Equipment and Pipelines

The classical version of pipeline diagnostics is considered. It includes three stages: defect detection with traditional ultrasonic methods; type and size identification of the detected discontinuities with the use of AVGUR system; pipeline life resource calculation on the basis of measured discontinuity parameters followed by a conclusion of repair reasonability. This diagnostics scheme was used while putting the 1st Block of Rostov Nuclear Power Plant into operation. It proved to be very economically efficient because it allowed abandoning very expensive repair of 90% welded joints being rejected according to the current regulations in the nuclear power engineering.
