Modern Flaw-Detecting Materials: Application Risk Factors and Experience in Nonhazardous Materials Production

Yu. M. Yaremenko, A. P. Efimov

Penetrant testing (PT) and magnetic particle examination (MPE) are widespread methods of non-destructive testing which do not require a lot of investments for manual application and are simple in terms of discontinuous interpretation. On the other hand, work with chemicals requires special precautions, safety instructions and disposal limitations. Growing demand among customers to decrease impact of consumables and equipment on personnel and environment has been shifting the producers’ priorities to developing new, safer solutions.
This work offers to consider some results of MR® Chemie Company in development of PT and MPE consumables free of dangerous components. Aspects of ultraviolet irradiation as a part of fluorescent PT and MPE methods are also considered in the paper due to their affecting the personnel safety.
