Metrological Assurance of Thermal NDT Instruments: Measuring Thermal Imagers and Pyrometers

Wide application of methods and tools for thermal non-destructive testing (NDT) in various industries is possible due to measurements with sufficient accuracy and informative value of the results including remote-controlled parameters. As tools used to implement active and passive methods for thermal NDT are the measurement thermal imagers, pyrometers.
The validity of the results depends on matching the parameters of NDT to the application tasks. In accordance with the current normative-technical documentation for metrological assurance of thermal imagers and pyrometers standards of unit of temperature - blackbody emitters are applied. Transfering scheme of the unit of temperature is described. A description of the main operations carried out in the verification or calibration of thermal imagers and pyrometers is shown.
At the moment system of metrological assurance of thermal imagers and pyrometers that includes the normative documentation on methods of verification (calibration) and a set of metrological equipment is developed.
