Features of Radiographic Inspection of Castings from Magnesian Alloys of a System Magny–Rare-Earth Metals–Tsirkony

The article is devoted to X-ray control of cast products from high-temperature magnesium alloys, which have low density and are used in aircraft and helicopter construction. Since objects using magnesium alloys are among those responsible, it is important to carefully screen them. Albums of reference radiographs with the image of defects specific for these alloys have been developed for this purpose. The article provides a description and analysis of the use of reference radiograms of shrinkage microporosity and other defects, as well as a comparison of these processes with how this is regulated in foreign standards. A description of reference radiographs of alloys ML9; ML10 is given, the newly developed album of reference radiographs for alloys ML9; ML10; ML19 and E 155 ASTM album, regulated by the ISO system. The order of application of reference radiographs has been determined. The coincidences and differences that exist in Russian and international standards governing the radiographic inspection of magnesium alloy castings are noted. X-ray images of the shrinkage microporosity, most often found in castings from magnesium alloys, are given.
