Steel ropes condition of various devices and constructions plays a significant role for the safety use of the objects. The inspection and diagnostics experience of ropes as parts of hazardous objects are taken into account in relevant norms and rules. Methods and means of non-destructive testing are wide used for diagnostics. They are very effective in the various use conditions and allow to automate diagnostics process and to go on to the rope condition monitoring. The monitoring by automated means of rope NDT makes condition for rise of safety use of drilling rigs, mine hoists, ladle cranes and other hazardous objects. Significant saving rate arises due to full use of rope lifetime, to reduction of the work process time break for rope inspection, to highly skilled NDT staff reduction.
It is necessary to meet such requirements as high instrument reliability at hard conditions, development of special software and other problems solution to get the automated NDT means for rope monitoring. The automated magnetic flaw detector INTROS-AUTO and its use experience at various hazardous objects is considered as an example. Regulation and norm base on monitoring and automated diagnostics of steel ropes are needed to be created.
