Features of Leak Tightness Testing of Rubber O-Rings Fastening Joints

The different ways of leak tightness testing are well known and standardized most precisely for welded joints. There are contradictory requirements in technical literature and normative documents for mounting technology and leak tightness testing with rubber O-rings. The main task of this research is to determine characteristics of fastening joints with rubber O-rings during leak tightness testing. Comparison method of technical characteristics during leak tightness testing of welded joints and fastening joints with rubber O-rings, and experimental method of quantitative impact assessment to gas leakage searching from elastomers and O-rings coating during assembling had been applied to solve this problem. Leak tightness testing was made by mass-spectrometer method, helium leak testing. The results of the research have been defined a few restrictions on usage of fastening joints with rubber O-rings during leak tightness testing. Experimental data showed off that high pressure increased by the gas emission before assembling from elastomer and O-rings coating lead to a blockage of probable leaks.
Findings of this research must be taken under elaboration of mounting technology and leak tightness testing fastening joints with rubber O-rings to reach specified norms of product tightness.
