At present, Russian energy is moving from a schedule preventive approach to a risk-oriented approach to asset management. Its essence is to determine the type, scope and priority of technical impacts on the equipment based on the assessment of the risk of failures prevented by them, and to form a program of works ensuring the minimum aggregate risk under the specified resource restrictions. In this regard, a number of normative acts have been adopted to ensure that this task is achieved. However, some of the necessary documents are not available and are awaiting development. The analysis showed that the approach being implemented had similarities and differences with the west-known approach to managing maintenance and repairs based on risk assessment.
