Innovative Technology of Acoustic-Emission Inspection of Linear-Type Facilities of Main Pipelines

It is known that the root cause of destruction of local sections of main pipelines is formation during operation of dangerous developing defects such as cracks of fatigue destruction, corrosion cracking under stress, as well as defects of local corrosion in zones of increased stress concentration. One common integral method of detecting listed defects is acoustic emission (AE) inspection. The article analyses the problems of practical use of AE method and proposes a method of their solution, based on the creation of modern technology of AE inspection on long objects of main pipelines. It is noted that this task is solved by means of new methodological approaches to preparation, carrying out and analysis of AE results implemented in the software and analytical complex AE-Strategy developed by the authors. It is stated that the use of this software-oriented medium together with standard AE equipment used at operating facilities of main pipelines allows to carry out effective AE inspection  in conditions of minimization or complete exclusion of so-called "human" factor.
