Technical Inspection of Operating and Being Built Hydraulic and Power Building Structures by Means of NDT Methods and Instruments

The requirements to the content of regulatory documentation for off-standard hydraulic and power structures examination are stated in the article with regard to operating conditions and capabilities of NDT methods and instruments. The requirements are based on more than 50-year experience of VNIIG’s specialists. Principles for working out regulatory documentation on proper usage of NDT complexes are offered. The importance of adequate cost estimation of both field inspection and preliminaries are accented. 
The authors stated the main requirements to working out application and regulatory documentation on technical inspection of hydraulic and power building structures. They offered taking obligatory into account the peculiarities of the structures, operating conditions, access conditions to inspection areas, technical capabilities of NDT instruments at particular conditions, seasonality optimization.
The authors consider it necessary to draw up price-lists for fulfillment of special inspection. These price-lists should take into account possible development of auxiliary equipment, a safe access to the inspected structures, possible profound re-inspection in case dangerous defects are detected. Inspection results validity is guaranteed by selection and application of independent NDT methods and instruments for task-specific problem solving and organizational arrangements allowing the NDT complex to be proper used under real working conditions.
